BIM 360 Release Notes

BIM 360 Docs Update – April 25, 2019

Joan Allen
April 25, 2019

The April 25, 2019 release delivers Transmittal feature improvements, the ability to initiate a review workflow from search results, Issue creation enhancements, and other usability and quality improvements.

Transmittals – creation extended to non-admins

When we released the Transmittal feature in February 2019, we limited the ability to create Transmittals to users with the Project Admin permission.  In response to customer feedback, we have extended this ability to a broader set of project members.  Now project members with the following permissions (at the folder level) can create Transmittals:

  • View/Download + Upload
  • View/Download + Upload + Edit
  • View/Download + Upload + Edit + Control
  • Project Admin

Review and Approval Workflow – Initiate from Search Results

Now users can initiate a Review workflow directly from the search results page.  This includes the ability select documents from multiple folders when initiating a review.

Issue Management – Type and Sub-type usability enhancement

In response to customer feedback, we have streamlined the issue creation user experience.  Instead of requiring project team members to enter both the “Type” and “Sub-type” for an issue, they now only need to enter the Sub-type.  Both Type and Sub-type are captured for dashboards and reports.

BIM 360 Android and iOS updates

The recently updated BIM 360 Android app, version 2.10, delivers an improved model navigation experience.  The “first person” tool makes it easy navigate a 3D  model as if you are walking through it.  We also updated the BIM 360 iOS app.
