Project Sugarhill from Autodesk is a technical preview of immersive (VR) conceptual design tools. The goal of Project Sugarhill is to allow artists and designers to start their creative process directly in 3D. Using simple curve, surfacing and sculpting tools users can explore form and shape while being fully immersed alongside their design. 3D sketches and models can be easily exported to screen-based applications such as Autodesk Alias or Maya for final realization. Project Sugarhill is the underlying technology in Alias Create VR.
Technical Preview 6 Release
The Sugarhill team is excited to release Sugarhill Tech Preview (TP6). This release features a broadening of the modeling functionality to include subdivision surface modeling (sometimes referred to as SUBDs or Subdivs).
Subdivision bodies are a type of geometry in that provide smooth continuous surfaces for creating objects and organic shapes. Project Sugarhill subdivision bodies comply with standard Catmull-Clark subdivision surfaces, which makes them like subdivision surfaces in other content creation applications, such as Autodesk Alias, Maya and 3ds Max.
Project Sugarhill SUBD tools include:
- Create patch or volume
- Extrude faces or edges
- Weld vertices or faces
- Delete faces or edges
- Crease edges
- Insert edges
- Disk tool
- Bridge tool
