We are excited to announce a new Autodesk offering: the Alias SubD Starter Pack. This new training offering shows you how to create 3D Subdivision models, represented by NURBS limit surfaces, from your concept sketches. We know that design is all about choices, and this new technology gives you the time and flexibility to explore your options.

Because this new modeling paradigm allows you to create and iterate exponentially faster . . . more designs can be reviewed and design decisions can be made confidently. This training allows you to explore various SubD modeling tools including Extrude, Bridge, Bevel, Crease, Weld, and the Retopology tool.

The Alias SubD Starter Pack introduces sculptors to the new hybrid capabilities of Subdivision bodies and traditional NURBS tools available in Alias. SubD bodies are fully integrated with Alias, so you can take full advantage of Alias diagnostics. That means you can sketch, model in SubDs, and render it to share with others in a design review.

Here’s a quick overview of what’s in store.

In the first project, you’ll learn to construct a gear shifter from side and top view sketches…

Another project will lead you through how to create an exterior mirror from concept sketches . . .

You’ll also develop a full exterior concept and learn how to use the Retopo tool to quickly surface laser scan data.

SubD modeling is a game changer, increasing your capacity to make changes quickly and efficiently, so you can create more designs in less time. Created by the excellent minds at Linkage, the Alias SubD Starter Pack is offered by a global network of service providers.

We invite you to check it out and see the difference for yourself. For more information regarding this unique Autodesk offering, please contact your Autodesk Account team (account exec, Tech SE, or CSM). And stay tuned for more!
