There have been many questions about support of the Microsoft Office 365 products with the Vault add-ins. The quick answer is yes; Vault 2016 does support the Office 365 products, but you need to read further for more details. The Office 365 products have two different flavors, online or hosted and desktop versions. The online or hosted versions of Office 365 are not supported with Vault. The desktop versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook are supported with Vault 2016. However, since Office 365 is the subscription model of the desktop products, you need to know the release version of the desktop product installed. To find out what release of Office 365 you are using, open Word and click Account in the File menu. Click the About Word button and the About Microsoft Word dialog shows the release of Word as seen highlighted in the following image.
As indicated in the Vault 2016 system requirements, Microsoft Office 2013 is the supported release and therefore you need the Office 2013 release of Office 365. If you have recently upgraded your Office 365 desktop products to the Office 2016 release, that release is not supported by Vault 2016.
It will be supported in a future release. 🙂
Good to know. But the million dollar question is when will Office 2016 be supported by Vault 2016?
