Theater Sneak Peek: Design for Sustainability

Stephanie Wells
October 24, 2017

If you haven’t heard, the Theater is something new at AU this year. Just around the corner from the Hub, it’s the place to catch dynamic 15-minute presentations from thought leaders during the AU week. Theater presentations will offer some sweet visuals, and they’re grouped by topic, so you can catch related presentations when you stop in.

Join us in the Theater on Tuesday, November 14, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. for these 3 presentations related to Design for Sustainability and how to make your manufacturing or construction project better for the planet:

Bartłomiej Gaczorek, Chief Design Officer, Custom Shapes
Leveraging Autodesk Fusion 360 to Apply the Concept of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle to Design

Gaczorek won the Cradle to Cradle Product Design Challenge for his LOOP Supply Medusa Spool. He’ll be talking about his design approach and how he used Fusion 360 to reduce, reuse, and recycle for greater social and environmental impact.

Jessica Chambers, Senior Consultant, Microdesk
How InfraWorks Is Helping UNHCR Provide Shelter and Safety to the World’s Refugees

Chambers will talk about how she and her team used Infrastructure Design Suite Ultimate and InfraWorks to design and build settlements for 450,000 refugees in only 6 months, while also making the settlements more beneficial for host communities.

Matt Hamann, Integrated Services Manager, Saunders Construction
Sustainability in Construction: Making the Most of the Sustainability Opportunity

Learn how Saunders is using digital tools to perform environmental impact analyses on projects in advance, then collect data on energy usage and recycling after completion. This enables construction firms to not only calculate and improve sustainability, but demonstrate progress easily.

Register in advance for the Design for Sustainability Theater talks, or just drop in. Seating is limited.  And check out the other Theater sessions happening during AU.
