This year’s AIF is off to a strong start.

At the spectacular Darmstadtium Congress Center, Autodesk welcomed over 550 guests to 2 days of keynotes and sessions led by industry leaders, a large exhibition floor featuring Autodesk partners and products and lots of networking.

The building is not only visually spectacular but is designed with sustainability in mind. The angled glass exterior lets light in but deflects heat. It also funnels rainwater to be used for lavatories, cooling, and cleaning — it even generates its own energy. This innovative environment was an inspiring backdrop to this year’s Automotive Innovation Forum.

AIF 2024 Day 1 sessions

Hyper Innovation in Exponential Times – Macs Giordano

After a welcome message from Autodesk’s Jöerg Winzenhoeller, AIF 2024 got off to a strong and inspiring start with the keynote session: Macs Giodano’s “Hyper Innovation in Exponential Times.”

For generations, we have imagined the evolution of technology. From the early days of telephones, people imagined methods of video calling. Science fiction imagined machines starting to think and ways to augment reality. Technology is a catalyst for other technology, and advancement doesn’t simply accelerate linearly.

We see this most clearly today with AI, growing exponentially. Macs provides an entertaining and inspiring look at the potential for AI and offers several ideas on how to harness its power.

The Design Studio Keynote – Developing your perfect workflow

Last year at AIF, we were excited to unveil to the public the new user experience in Alias.  And with the new user experience and UI, we showed the promise of accelerated development for new tools and workflows in Alias.

Today we showcased one of these possibilities with the new “puck tool” in Alias.

Other highlights of the Design Studio Keynote included new USD support in Alias and VRED, as well as exciting announcements about ZeroLight. Stay tuned for the details!

Asso di Picche in Movimento

Designers at ItalDesign call themselves ideneers, engineers of ideas. Joaquin Garcia explains how they celebrate and reimagine the design of the classic 1973 Asso di Picche as they look into the future.
