BIM 360 Release Notes

BIM 360 Admin Update – Expanded Default User Roles

Sijie Zhang
October 2, 2018

We heard feedback from our customers that BIM 360 was missing some critical user roles. BIM 360 added 20 additional default roles as shown below. The expanded set of roles are available for new projects as well as existing projects. For a short period of time for existing projects, in Document Management, the project admin can only assign permissions to a role that has people already assigned to it. Once this limitation is removed, the admin can assign Document permissions to a role before any users have been associated with that role.

Hi Sijie – can we possibly add Architect – Interior or Interior Architect? This are for project where there may be two architects. One focused on shell or exterior while another is focused on the interiors. From my architecture background, some architects take offense, when labeled as Interior Designer. Thank you!

Hi Fred, thanks for the feedback. We are still working towards Custom Roles, once we have that, customers can add their desired role or job title. Thank you!
