FASTER SPEED, MORE CONTROL

We’re back!

The third batch of our Alias 2021 Deep Dive videos gets into features that speed up processes and that gives you more freedom to create as you need to. Increasing speed and control is part of how Alias 2021 is modernizing the design process and workflow. The Retopo tool is purpose-built for converting meshes to Subdivision bodies, while the Skin tool now has additional options to increase your control over the shapes you create. And the Freeform Blend tool now allows you to easily create transitional surfaces based on the shape you want, rather than keying in numbers or radius values.

Our new Subd Retopology tool speeds up the process of creating quick Subdivision models based on mesh or surface data. This new feature combines various Subd Tools into a single function, providing you with quick access to the tools required to create and modify a Subd based on projection geometry. There’s also a new hokey help interface that visually informs you how the mouse and clutch keys execute each command.

The Alias 2021 release includes the ability to create Freefrom Blends based on the U or V lines of the input surfaces. This additional option allows you to create blends without requiring the creation of curves on surface. The Skin tool now has expanded crown control, so that you can now bias the curvature to one end or the other. This fix resolves the limitations of previous versions of Alias, where you were constrained to placing the crown at the center of the skin surface.

There will be more ahead, so stay tuned for the next batch of Alias 2021 Deep Dive videos, tailored to ensuring you get the most from our latest release.
