While digital tools and processes have become a staple for automotive designers, color and trim remains largely in the physical world. The goal for many designers is to close the gap between these two worlds, bringing the physical and digital closer together.
At the 2023 AIF in Frankfurt, Thomas Gabrielsen and Viktor Weizel from Porsche – and Lukas Gotkowski from MHP Management – shared details of their color and trim workflow.
That workflow focuses on
- Creating digital colors and materials.
- Calibrating the materials, the scene, the displays (real and virtual light booths) , and the LED wall.
- Managing 900+ new materials and counting.
