Our PAUSE series aims to share Design Studio Blog posts you may have missed. It’s a chance for you to pause on a particular subject or series and take it in.

In this PAUSE post, we’ve looked back on a year of industry stories, product news, and design inspiration and chosen our top 5 stories to share with you.

#1: Alias and VRED 2024 releases

The Alias 2024 release represents a major overhaul of the 2024 user experience. (For a deeper dive into that new user experience, click here.) VRED 2024 release also offers significant feature updates. One of the biggest outcomes is the common design language Alias and VRED now share, so that you can transition between the two seamlessly.

#2: “Time is of the essence”: How Rivian EVs are changing the way we think about utility vehicles

We first featured Rivian on our blog after our 2023 Automotive Innovation Forum. This young OEM with a keen focus on sustainability is changing the way we think about traditional adventure and utility vehicles.

Rivian was also a featured presence at Automotive University 2023, where the company won a award, offered a hands-on experience of Rivian in the AU Expo Hall, and popped up in several presentations.

#3: People, technology, future: AIF 2023 Design Studio keynote

What does the perfect design studio workflow look like? That’s the provocative question raised by ShotGrid Product Manager Brandon Tasker during the 2023 AIF Design Studio keynote.

Brandon and VRED Product Manager Lukas Fäth approached this question with a discussion about collaboration and user experience, technology, and the future of automotive design.

#4: Building an industry ecosystem: The Domeble-Symetri Student Awards

It’s impossible to think about the future of automotive design without thinking about the people who will bring that future into being: the next generation of designers.

We’ve talked about this before, with James McLachlan of Car Design News.  And we’re delighted that Nick John of Symetri and Carl Lyttle of Domeble have collaborated to create a new platform for students to showcase their work and connect directly with the creative industry.

#5: Women in tech: A conversation with Silverdraft CEO Amy Gile

Amy Gile is a force of nature. Former model/actor and current CEO of supercomputing company Silverdraft, Amy spoke with us about technology and women.
